The Nerdiverse Book Club Begins
The first book in The Nerdiverse ComiClub is “Ender’s Game.” Join us in reading it. Call in to 407-900-NERD to talk about it with us. Get in the loop. Here is a snapshot of the plot:
Ender’s Game is a science fiction novel that tells the story of Andrew Wiggin (nicknamed Ender by his sister, Valentine.) The story takes place on Earth in the future. Earth has been attacked twice by an alien species called Buggers, nearly destroying the human race. Mankind begins training young geniuses to become soldiers and commanders to fight in Earth’s defence if the Buggers should ever attack again. Ender is extremely intelligent, and at the age of six years old, he goes to Battle School to be trained. Ender quickly rises to the top in Battle School and begins training in order to command Earth’s fleet.
Just started listening to the podcast – I’ve only gotten through six episodes, so I don’t know if anything has changed, but I have to admit that I’m disappointed that all three Nerdiverse hosts have not read “Ender’s Game”. I’m not sure I can consider you a true nerd until you have finished it…. (This from the guy who’s only seen one episode of Firefly).
Ender’s game is to nerd books like Star Wars is to Nerd movies. One of the best sci-fi stories written. If you enjoy it you might try to find a copy of “Ender’s Shadow”. It’s the story of Bean from “Ender’s Game”.
